Hi, I’m Ghislaine!
I’m a third-year Game Design student specialising in level design.
I enjoy creating environments that encourage exploration while supporting clear and engaging gameplay. I’m particularly interested in how architecture, atmosphere and level layout can influence the player’s experience.
What I enjoy most about level design is finding the balance between how a space looks and how it plays.
MY APPROACH TO LEVEL DESIGN
When designing levels, I like to start by understanding the purpose of a space and how the player is expected to interact with it.
My process usually involves research, sketches, blockouts and playtesting. I enjoy experimenting with layouts and mechanics, then seeing how they work in practice and making adjustments based on feedback.
Through my university projects, I’ve gained experience with environment layout, combat encounters, environmental puzzles and player guidance. These projects have also helped me develop a better understanding of how different design elements work together to create a cohesive level.
OUTSIDE OF LEVEL DESIGN
Gaming is also a big part of my free time, particularly Overwatch. I used to play competitively as part of a team, participating in tournaments as a flex support. Besides gaming, I enjoy drawing and have even sold some of my own designs as acrylic keychains through Etsy.
I’m also a big fan of music and comics. I enjoy going to concerts, especially bands like My Chemical Romance and Green Day, and collecting CDs and vinyl records. I also like visiting events such as Comic Con and reading comics, with Daredevil being a personal favourite.
